The curved stairs and narrow corridors in the interior of the yacht made it incredibly difficult to cut and lay the carpet without puckering, to give a one-piece feel. Additionally, the strong marine glue residue left on the steps after the old carpet was removed prevented the new floor from sitting properly.
First, the old glue and sponge residues on the curved wooden stairs were mechanically scraped and the surface was sanded. A breathable marine primer was applied to prevent moisture and mold. On top, a luxury beige marine carpet that is resistant to sea conditions, extra plump, and gives a cloud-like feeling when walked barefoot was chosen. By making zero-tolerance (millimetric) cuts at the stair nosings and curved skirting bases with LED lighting, puckers and joints were completely hidden.
